Board of Education Approves Hire of Meghan Menchella as Selvidge Assistant Principal

The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Meghan Menchella as a new assistant principal at Selvidge Middle, effective July 1. She replaces Dr. Brent Pearson, who was hired as a new assistant principal at Eureka High, also beginning July 1.

Menchella has taught eighth-grade United States History at Crestview Middle since 2015. She has served on multiple district and state committees, and she has presented at the National Council for the Social Studies Conference as well as the National Council for History Education Conference. In 2023, Menchella was named a Milken Educator and last year, she earned a fellowship to the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes. In 2019, she was named the Crestview Teacher of the Year, the Rockwood Middle School Teacher of the Year and the District Teacher of the Year. Menchella went on that year to be named a St. Louis Regional Teacher of the Year and was a semifinalist for the Missouri Teacher of the Year. She has received two ROSE nominations and the 2020 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award.

Menchella earned her Bachelor of Arts in Middle School Social Studies and English Language Arts Education from Lindenwood University, a Master of Arts in Instructional Technology from Southwest Baptist University and a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.

“I am thrilled and honored to join the team at Selvidge Middle School,” said Menchella. “I am so impressed by the staff’s dedication to student achievement and the school's deep-rooted connection to the community. I look forward to serving the Selvidge students and families as we build on this strong foundation to ensure every student feels supported, challenged and inspired to grow.”
