Board of Education Student Advisory Group Holds First Meeting of School Year

The Rockwood Board of Education held its first Student Advisory Group meeting of the 2025-2026 school year Aug. 28 at the Administrative Annex, before the regularly scheduled Board meeting.

An initiative of the Board's Communications, Outreach and Public Engagement (COPE) Committee, the Student Advisory Group consists of juniors and seniors from Eureka, Lafayette, Marquette and Rockwood Summit high schools and the Pathways Wellness Center. Group meetings are opportunities for Board members to connect with, and hear directly from, Rockwood students.

The meeting included Board-member introductions, an opportunity for students to tell Board members about their start to the school year and conversations on topics such as defining what "student-led" means to them; ways to communicate the content of group meetings back to their schools and gather feedback from fellow students; and how students are seeing The Rockwood Promise in action, as well as ways in which the district can better engage with students to fulfill the Promise.

Members of the Student Advisory Group are Caleb Pickens and Andie Belz (Eureka High); Noah Bairu and Vedha Inampudi (Lafayette High); Mithra Menon and Ellie Pagan (Marquette High); Lauren Dibble (Marquette and Pathways Wellness Center); Broderick Davenport and Courtney Duff (Rockwood Summit High); and Marley Vanderveld (Pathways Wellness Center).
