Eureka High Graduate Earns Fulbright Scholarship to Study in Turkey

Lily Dickenson, a 2022 graduate of Eureka High and 2025 graduate of Baylor University, has received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award in Turkey for the 2025-2026 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Dickenson, who majored in history and political science at Baylor, earned the English Teaching Assistant Award to Turkey.

“My love for international affairs was nurtured at Eureka High School, where I was able to participate in Model United Nations with Ms. (Sandra) Merrell, study art history with Ms. (Lauren) Schoellhorn and be challenged every day by Mr. (Bryan) Clar,” Dickenson said.   “My Rockwood education gave me the foundation to dream big and the skills to achieve those dreams.”

Since 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 400,000 talented and accomplished students, scholars, teachers, artists and professionals of all backgrounds with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research abroad. Fulbrighters exchange ideas, build people to people connections and work to address complex global challenges.  Notable Fulbrighters include 62 Nobel Laureates, 93 Pulitzer Prize winners, 82 MacArthur Fellows, 44 heads of state or government and thousands of leaders across the private, public and nonprofit sectors.

Fulbright is a program of the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. government. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the program, which has operated in more than160 countries worldwide.
