Eureka High's Sarah Goodman Named High School Assistant Principal of the Year
Eureka High Associate Principal Sarah Goodman has been named the 2024-2025 High School Assistant Principal of the Year by the St. Louis Association of Secondary School Principals (SASSP).
SASSP executive board members surprised Goodman with the news in front of students and staff members on April 3.
"SASSP is proud to celebrate Mrs. Goodman because she provides exemplary support to her teachers, students and fellow administrators," said Valerie Kamhi, SASSP president. "She is deeply committed to improving literacy and equity at her school. As busy as she is, Mrs. Goodman is always willing to listen, provide feedback and to help in any way she can."
This is Goodman’s first year as associate principal at Eureka High. Previously, Goodman served as an assistant principal at Rockwood Summit High.
"It’s been wonderful to return home to Eureka," Goodman said. "I have so many close relationships here."
Goodman credited her success to the people with whom she interacts every day.
"I’m very appreciative to my parents as well as my husband, who’s been incredibly supportive as I’ve gone into administration and who also believes in the work that I do each day for kids," Goodman shared. "It’s impossible to make an impact in this field without being part of a great team, and I am part of an amazing administrative team at Eureka, and just the school as a whole is full of incredible people who always want to do what’s right for kids."
SASSP represents a region within the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MoASSP) and covers 31 school districts and private schools throughout the St. Louis metro area. Each MoASSP region selects one individual to be recognized as High School Assistant Principal of the Year. One of those recipients will be selected as the MoASSP Assistant Principal of the Year and will be entered into the national Assistant Principal of the Year award program.
Goodman will be formally recognized at an awards banquet later this month, where she will receive a $250 scholarship to award to a student of her choice.
