March Board Awards Ceremony Honors Rockwood Student, Staff Achievement
More than 170 Rockwood School District students, groups and staff members were honored for their achievements during the Board of Education Awards Ceremony on March 5 at Lafayette High.
The Board of Education Award is one of Rockwood's most prestigious honors, recognizing students and staff members who have achieved the highest standards of excellence that embody the Rockwood spirit.
Representatives from all four high schools, Crestview and Rockwood South middle schools and Babler, Ballwin, Chesterfield and Wild Horse elementary schools earned Board Awards.
Board of Education President Lynne Midyett and Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain welcomed attendees to the ceremony, and Dr. Cain, Midyett and vice president Tamara Rhomberg helped hand out the awards to students and staff.
Eureka High seniors Sam Heacox and Jake Yallaly earned the Above and Beyond award for exemplary actions they took during a medical incident at South Tech.

More than 80 Rockwood School District administrators, staff members, parents, Board of Education members, district safety officers and school resource officers (SROs) and representatives from local police and fire departments met for the district's annual Crisis Planning Workshop at the Administrative Annex in Eureka on Oct. 2.

The Rockwood Board of Education approved the 2026 tax rate at its Sept. 29 meeting. The rate, approved by the Missouri State Auditor, is $3.8920. This is an increase of $0.0104 from last year’s tax rate of $3.8816. A small increase is typical in a non-reassessment year, and 2026 is a non-reassessment year.

Thursday, Sept. 11, is the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and communities in the Rockwood School District marked the occasion by holding events to recognize and thank servicemembers and first responders.

A total of 26 Rockwood students have been named semifinalists for the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
