More Than 20 Rockwood Students Named Finalists for National Merit Scholarships

A total of 21 Rockwood School District students have been named finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Each year, approximately 15,000 high school seniors from around the nation are selected as finalists for this prestigious program, which gives them the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered in the spring.

This pool of finalists represents less than 1 percent of all U.S. high school seniors. Rockwood's National Merit Scholarship finalists are:

  • Madhav Devapal, Lafayette
  • Mark Domsalla, Lafayette
  • Sowmya Erukulapati, Marquette

High school juniors entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of finalists includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

From these finalists, scholarship recipients will be chosen and announced starting in April.

Representatives from more than 90 institutions of higher learning, military/ROTC branches and trade schools will be in attendance at this year’s Rockwood/Parkway Regional College Fair, which takes place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at the Greensfelder Rec Complex at Queeny Park.
