More than 40 Rockwood Students Qualify for National Future Business Leaders of America Conference

A total of 45 Rockwood School District students from Lafayette and Marquette high schools have qualified for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference.

The students earned their spots at Nationals by finishing in the top four of their competitive events at the Missouri FBLA State Leadership Conference from April 13-15 in Springfield.

Marquette's FBLA chapter had 55 students finish in the top 10 in the state and 29 advance to Nationals, and Lafayette had 30 students finish in the top 10, with 16 advancing to Nationals. Marquette's Adithya Chengalvala (Management Information Systems), Vihaan Sawardekar (Intro to Parliamentary Procedure) and Vismaya Vinod (Computer Game and Simulation Programming) and Lafayette's Noah Bairu (Broadcast Journalism and Electronic Career Portfolio) and Akshaya Nalluri (Banking and Financial) earned state championships in their events.

Rockwood Summit High also had one student earn a top-10 state finish.

Marquette received the Gold Level Chapter of the Year award, the Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit and recognition for its participation in the National Champion Chapter activities and State Service Project. Marquette students Jonathan Li (Management track) and Sawardekar (Finance track) also earned first place in the Fall Virtual Business Challenge.

The FBLA National Leadership Conference will be held June 29-July 2 in Anaheim, California.
