Nearly 100 Rockwood Students Graduate with Missouri Seal of Biliteracy

More than 90 Rockwood School District students representing all four district high schools earned Missouri Seal of Biliteracy or Distinguished Missouri Seal of Biliteracy recognition this year.

The Missouri Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to graduating high school students in districts with a DESE-approved program who have demonstrated achievement in English, a language other than English and sociocultural competence. All Missouri students studying any of the world’s languages are potential Seal candidates. According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), a total of 1,692 students across the state earned the Seal of Biliteracy in 2023.

This year, Rockwood students earned the Seal in Spanish (72 students), French (18), German, Portuguese and Tamil (two each). A total of seven Rockwood students earned the Distinguished Missouri Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing students who show an advanced level of proficiency in at least two languages, two Rockwood students earned the Seal of Biliteracy in two different languages, and one student earned it in three different languages.
