Rockwood Board Approves 2025-2026 School Year Calendar Revisions, 2026-2027 Calendar
At the Nov. 7 meeting, the Rockwood Board of Education approved revisions to the 2025-2026 school year calendar and the 2026-2027 calendar.
The 2025-2026 calendar revisions provide for 173 student attendance days during the year, as well as four professional learning days for staff members. With three fewer student attendance days than the previously approved calendar, the school day will now start seven minutes earlier for Rockwood elementary, middle and high school students. Dismissal times remain the same.
New start and end times will be:
- Middle school: 7:40 a.m.-2:39 p.m.
- High school: 8:21 a.m.-3:17 p.m.
- Elementary school (early start): 8:26 a.m.-3:23 p.m.
- Elementary school (late start): 9:02 a.m.-3:59 p.m.
The school year starts Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, and the first semester ends Friday, Dec. 19. The second semester begins Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, and the school year ends Friday, May 22. Spring break is scheduled for March 16-20, with a professional development day and no classes for students the Friday prior (March 13).
The calendar revisions allow Rockwood to maintain student contact minutes and meet all legal parameters set forth by the Missouri state legislature while providing staff with professional development opportunities throughout the year, timely breaks for students and an end date before Memorial Day.
These revisions were implemented after reviewing employee feedback and in consultation with the Board of Education, our employees and the district Calendar Committee, which is composed of Rockwood staff members and parents. The additional daily minutes will maintain the same overall instructional time for students, ensuring that there will be no adverse impact on instruction or state reporting requirements related to inclement weather. Additionally, the proposed changes will not affect the number of days or salary for our support staff.
By implementing these changes, we can address the needs of our staff while maintaining a high-quality educational experience for our students.
For the 2026-2027 school year, students start on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, and the first semester ends Tuesday, Dec. 22. The second semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2027, and the school year ends Friday, May 28. Spring break is scheduled for March 15-19, with a professional development day and no classes for students the Friday prior (March 12).
