Rockwood Board of Education Holds Reorganization Meeting
The Rockwood School District Board of Education held its reorganization meeting Thursday, April 10.
New Director Sarah Boyer and returning member Dr. Mara Vorachek-Warren were sworn in for three-year terms that will end in the spring of 2028. Vorachek-Warren and Boyer were elected April 8. Vorachek-Warren was elected to serve her first full term after being selected by the Board last June to fill the seat vacated by Jessica Clark. Boyer was elected to fill the seat previously held by Izzy Imig, who resigned in March.
The Rockwood Board of Education unanimously voted to have Lynne Midyett remain as the board president for the 2025-2026 school year, which will mark her second year in that position. The Board also unanimously voted for Tammy Rhomberg to remain board vice president, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent Janet Sadowski to remain secretary and Chief Financial Officer Cyndee Byous to remain treasurer.
Boyer has been a teacher for 15 years, including eight years serving Rockwood students through the Special School District. Currently, she is an instruction coach, supporting special education teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies in the Parkway School District. She is a Girl Scout co-leader and serves as secretary of the Westridge PTO. Boyer has been a resident of Rockwood for more than 10 years, is married to a Rockwood graduate and has three daughters who attend Rockwood schools.
Vorachek-Warren has been a Rockwood resident since 2010, and she has twins who attend Rockwood Valley Middle. She holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Duke University and, with more than 20 years’ experience in education, she currently works at St. Charles Community College as both full-time and adjunct faculty and as an academic administrator. She has volunteered her time as a volleyball coach as well as for both the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.
The new board also voted unanimously to reaffirm their commitment to the Board Code of Ethics.
