Rockwood Celebrates National School Psychology Week 2024
The week of Nov. 11-15, 2024, is National School Psychology Week, an opportunity for us to honor school psychologists for the important work they do to help all students thrive.
School psychologists deliver countless services to improve student achievement and social-emotional well-being. These services span both special and general education.
Lindsey Lux is one of 15 school psychologists in Rockwood. She serves the students and families of Babler Elementary and Wildwood Middle.
“I love working with such wildly capable school staff, families and students,” said Lux, who has been a school psychologist for 14 years, five of them in Rockwood. “We are a district that strives to create inclusion, equity, community and optimal educational outcomes. That is powerful!”
Lux shared what led her to pursue a career in school psychology.
“Although I originally started my career in the business world and did not find this path until a little later in life, I have always possessed an immense love and respect for education and working with others,” she said. “School psychology has given me a wonderful balance of both while incorporating my educational background in psychology.”
This year’s National School Psychology Week theme, “Spark Discovery,” highlights the value of individual and collective growth as central to effective learning environments and intrinsic to the role of school psychologists in nurturing student well-being.
“I believe that discovery is incorporated in everyday opportunities and interactions,” Lux said. “This can be anything from connecting others to resources, working with school teams to identify student learning styles and needs while identifying possible additional levels of support, supporting schools with systems-level change or offering whatever support I can to someone's journey. Discovery can be endless for all of us if we allow it to be.”
Thank you to our 15 school psychologists for supporting student well-being and learning!
