Rockwood Celebrates National School Psychology Week 2025

The week of Nov. 3-7, 2025, is National School Psychology Week, an opportunity for us to honor school psychologists for the important work they do to help all students thrive.

School psychologists deliver a multitude of services to improve student achievement and social-emotional well-being. These services span both special and general education.

Joseph Nagel is one of 15 school psychologists in Rockwood. He serves the students and families of Green Pines and Pond elementary schools.

“My favorite part of being a school psychologist in Rockwood is collaborating with teachers and administrators,” said Nagel, who is in his ninth year in Rockwood. “Problem-solving to find ways to help students before we get to the point of a special education referral is so rewarding and can really make a difference for students.”

“Also, when reviewing evaluation results with parents and teachers, I love helping parents and school teams come to a better understanding of their students, their strengths and weaknesses and how to support them best,” Nagel added.

Nagel shared what led him to pursue a career in school psychology.

“I've always enjoyed thinking through big problems and analyzing data,” he said. “When I decided that I wanted to work in education, school psychology was a perfect fit.”

This year’s National School Psychology Week theme, “Finding Your Path,” reflects the ways that school psychologists help students, families and school communities set and achieve their goals.

“I’m grateful to be part of helping students succeed and reach their potential every day,” said Kelsey Tobey, school psychologist at Chesterfield Elementary and Lafayette High. “Supporting students has always been my passion!”

Thank you to our 15 school psychologists for supporting student well-being and learning!
