Rockwood Elementary, Middle Schools Earn Top Rankings from U.S. News & World Report

A number of Rockwood elementary and middle schools earned recognition in U.S. News & World Report's latest edition of Best K-8 Schools rankings, which were released Oct. 28.

The publication, which also routinely compiles rankings for high schools, published numerical rankings and data on nearly 47,000 elementary schools and more than 23,000 middle schools from around the country.

The methodology for the rankings focuses on students’ proficiencies in mathematics and reading, as measured by state assessment tests. Half of the ranking formula was the results themselves, and the other half was the results in the context of socioeconomic demographics.

Five of Rockwood's middle schools are ranked in the top 13 percent of the nearly 500 schools assigned a numerical ranking in the state of Missouri, including three -- Crestview (No. 15), Rockwood Valley (No. 22)  and Wildwood (No. 28) -- that rank in the top 5.7 percent.

Eleven Rockwood elementary schools are also included among the top 15.5 percent of the more than 1,000 schools assigned a numerical ranking in the state, including Chesterfield, Kehrs Mill and Wild Horse (top 3 percent) and Fairway, Pond, Woerther and Green Pines (top 9 percent). At No. 8, Chesterfield is ranked within the top 1 percent of all Missouri elementary schools.

Earlier this fall, all four Rockwood high schools were ranked in the top 17 percent of Missouri high schools by U.S. News & World Report.

Congratulations to all of our students, staff members and school communities on their commitment to make Rockwood a great place to learn and grow!
