Rockwood Families: Apply Now for 2026-2027 FAFSA Federal Student Aid

Rockwood Families: Apply Now for 2026-2027 FAFSA Federal Student Aid

The Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for the 2026-2027 school year is now available for students to complete and submit.

Missourians should submit a FAFSA every year they plan to attend college. The FAFSA is the main way to determine students’ eligibility for most federal and state financial aid.

To file a FAFSA, you will need an FSA ID (or your login information if you already have one), your 2024 tax information, and to determine if you are a dependent or independent student. If you are a dependent student, you will also need to identify who your parent/contributor is. An FSA ID may take a few days to establish due to verifications, so it is important to create one before you plan to file your FAFSA.

Students who were part of the beta testing process of this year's FASFA form do not have to complete it again. Families and students can apply online at studentaid.gov.

Before applying:

  • Student and parent EACH need a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID.
    • The FSA ID is a username and password that is linked to a user's date of birth (DOB) and Social Security Number (SSN).
    • Pro Tip: be sure to use a non-Rockwood email when setting this up. A separate cell phone number and email will be needed for student and for parent.
  • Parents and students will need to know total amount of cash savings and checking and certain investments.

*****Pro Tip: parents should complete their portion of the FAFSA online - www.studentaid.gov - and then an invitation will be sent via email to the student.*****

Important FAFSA Information:

  • Tax info is automatically imported
  • Students complete their portion separately from their "contributors" (formerly referred to as "parents").
  • The application no longer calculates an EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) but an SAI (Student Aid Index). This is used to determine the federal, state and institutional need-based aid that a student/family is eligible for.
  • Students can begin the FAFSA and invite a contributor to complete their portion or vice versa. When inviting a contributor, a SSN, DOB and email are required.
