Rockwood Holiday Greeting Card Features Eureka High Student's Work of Art

This year’s Rockwood School District Holiday eCard features the artwork of Eureka High senior Kate Feeney!

Talented student artists from around Rockwood submitted entries into this year’s contest, with Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain ultimately choosing the winning design. Dr. Cain was among those on hand to help surprise Feeney and celebrate her accomplishments in front of fellow students during her Art History class Dec. 11.

Feeney's design features a reindeer posed between pine trees on rolling snowy hills inside a snowglobe, with the words "Happy Holidays!" printed in cursive script.

"The parameters for the assignment for our class were to be inclusive of everybody, so I went for a winter theme," she said. "I really like the idea of a snow globe and adding a reindeer. I needed some color, so I made the base red. I wanted to keep it simple.  I love line work and penwork so all the stippling and the shading are penwork, which is fun to do. I'm very excited to have been chosen."

A Rockwood student smiles and shakes hands with Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain after her artwork was chosen for this year's Rockwood Holiday Card.

Cain chose Feeney's design from more than 50 submissions, which included hand-painted watercolor and acrylic pieces, drawings, designs from graphic art classes and other mediums.

Thank you to all of the Rockwood students who submitted their artwork for this year’s holiday card contest!

You can see the other submissions at this link.
