Rockwood Musicians, Educators Shine at Annual MMEA Conference
Rockwood School District musical ensembles, students and educators were well-represented at the Missouri Music Educators Association's (MMEA) annual conference, held Jan. 28-Feb. 1 in Osage Beach.
The wind ensembles from Eureka and Rockwood Summit high schools both performed Jan. 30. This makes for five out of Rockwood's 10 middle and high school band programs that have performed at MMEA in the past three years.
Five students from Geggie and Fairway elementary schools sang with the All-State Children's Choir on Jan. 28.
Four students from Marquette and Lafayette high schools performed with The Collective, the newest all-state ensemble, on Jan. 29. In addition, students from all four Rockwood high schools performed with the All-State band, jazz band, orchestra and choir on Feb. 1.
Jared Brockmeyer, Rockwood South Middle band director, served as the Band Vice President for the convention, in the first year of his two-year term. Many Rockwood music teachers also attended the conference for their own professional learning.
