Rockwood Strategic Plan Steering Committee Holds First Meeting
The Rockwood School District Strategic Plan Steering Committee held its first meeting at the Administrative Annex on Sept. 10, embarking on the yearlong process of helping prepare for a new district strategic plan for 2025-2030.
Over the course of the 2024-2025 school year, Rockwood is bringing together members of our community to help set the future direction of our schools. The district's five-year strategic plan represents our commitment to every child, every family and every employee of Rockwood. Along the way, we will ask questions, listen, evaluate and take an even closer look at what we can do better. We will address our state’s mandate for a comprehensive school improvement plan and take it a step further as we develop a visionary roadmap that will include the aspirations, goals and priorities shared by our community.
The Strategic Plan Steering Committee application was open from May 21 through June 17. In an effort to generate creative solutions that include a good cross-section of individuals and perspectives, the 29 committee members were both selected from the applications and invited by Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain to participate based on role, background and location within the district. The committee includes students, staff, parents and community members who represent all grade levels and all four quadrants of the district.
In addition to the committee's work, Rockwood community members will have opportunities to have their voices heard through the process of creating the strategic plan. Community engagement meetings centered on each of the four broad categories the strategic plan will address are open to all members of our community and will be held on the following days:
- Oct. 8, 6 p.m.: Rockwood Summit High (Nurturing Learning)
- Nov. 12, 6 p.m.: Eureka High (Fiscal Responsibility)
- Jan. 14, 6 p.m.: Lafayette High (Highly Qualified Staff; Back-up date Jan. 15)
- Feb. 11, 6 p.m.: Marquette High (Safe and Caring Schools; Back-up date Feb. 12)
Community members are also welcome to share their thoughts with the steering committee through this ThoughtExchange link.
