Rockwood Student Singers Selected for All-State Choir, Children's Choir
A pair of Rockwood high school students earned All-State Choir recognition, and five elementary school students earned places in the All-State Children's Choir.
On Nov. 2, students selected for the All-District Mixed and Treble Choirs participated in a clinic and performance at Pattonville High. All-State Choir auditions were also held on this day, and Rockwood Summit High's Shekinah Annin (soprano) earned a place in the All-State Choir and Marquette High's Alexandra Lappin (soprano) was selected as an alternate.
Students selected for the All-State Choir will participate in rehearsals with other students selected from across the state to rehearse in January and perform a concert as a part of the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) Conference in Osage Beach, which runs Jan. 28-Feb. 1.
Annin and Marquette's Evelyn Dean will also participate in the State Sight-Singing Bee, a competition in which students perform a piece of music they've never seen before, at the MMEA Conference.
Five Rockwood elementary students were also selected for the 2025 MMEA All-State Children's Choir: Hudson Evans and Sophia Smith from Fairway Elementary; and Lucy Correnti, Ava Giles and Sloane Uthoff from Geggie Elementary. These students worked with their music teachers to submit audition recordings and will participate in a clinic and performance with children from across the state on Jan. 28 as a part of the MMEA Conference.
Congratulations to these talented Rockwood student musicians!
