Rockwood Students Earn Awards, Advance to Regionals at Robotics Events

Rockwood Students Earn Awards, Advance to Regionals at Robotics Events
Rockwood School District students on nine robotics teams earned awards during FIRST Lego League (FLL) Challenge qualifying events in the St. Louis area during November and December.
Seven teams including Rockwood students -- Raiders of the Lost Spark, Sea Dragons, Golden Falcons, Grrave Diggers, Chaotic Robotic, Galaxy Bots and Tinker Whales -- advanced on to the FLL Missouri Regional Championship, which will be held Jan. 17 at Francis Howell High. They will compete with other teams from around the region for a chance to qualify for the World Championships in Houston, Texas, from April 29-May 2.
The Rockwood South Middle Goldfish and Lego Legends, another team that includes Rockwood students, both earned the Core Values 2nd Place Award at their qualifiers. Core Values awards are given to teams that show the greatest enthusiasm, best sporting spirit, most extraordinary respect for its own team members and the most support for other teams in the tournament.

Awards Won: Champion’s Award 1st Place at Wentzville on Nov. 15 (qualified for Missouri Regional Championship)

Awards Won: Champion’s Award 1st Place at Rolla on Nov. 23 (qualified for Missouri Regional Championship)

Golden Falcons
Awards Won: Champion’s Award 2nd Place, Robot Performance Award at MICDS on Dec. 7 (qualified for Missouri Regional Championship)

Grrave Diggers
Awards Won: Champion’s Award 2nd Place, Robot Performance Award at Rolla on Nov. 23 (qualified for Missouri Regional Championship)

Candidate filing for the Rockwood Board of Education closed on Dec. 30, and the district has three citizens who have filed to run for three open seats. The seats are currently held by Kary Bachert, Bob Cadigan and Lynne Midyett.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for the 2026-2027 school year is now available for students to complete and submit, and the state of Missouri priority deadline is Monday, Feb. 2.
