Rockwood Students Earn Seal of Biliteracy Honors

A total of 172 Rockwood School District students representing all four district high schools earned Missouri Seal of Biliteracy recognition this year.

The Missouri Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to graduating high school students in districts with a DESE-approved program who have demonstrated achievement in English, a language other than English and sociocultural competence. Three juniors also earned their Seals this year. All Missouri students studying any of the world’s languages are potential Seal candidates. According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), students across the state earned a total of 1,697 Seal of Biliteracy awards in 2025.

This year, Rockwood students earned the Seal in Spanish (135 students), French (29), German, Portuguese and Russian (two each), American Sign Language, Chinese, Dari, Japanese, Mandarin, Tamil and Ukrainian. Four Rockwood students earned the Seal of Biliteracy in two different languages. A pair of Rockwood students earned the Distinguished Missouri Seal of Biliteracy - recognizing students who show an advanced level of proficiency in at least two languages - in Spanish.
