Rockwood Students Earn Selection to Missouri Scholars 100
A total of five Rockwood School District students have been selected for the 2024 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the graduating class of 2024.
Ryan Watkins (Eureka High), Olivia Clerico and Luke Tipton (Lafayette High) and Rhianna Li and Ankush Vasireddy (Marquette High) are Rockwood's representatives in this year's class.
Now in its 30th year, Missouri Scholars 100 is a program sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MoASSP). Schools across Missouri were invited to nominate candidates for this statewide recognition. The selection process employs a formula considering the student’s grade-point average and ACT or SAT scores. Nominees must meet the criteria of an "Academic Decathlon," successfully navigating ten challenging academic events to showcase their scholastic strength. Additionally, nominees must exhibit excellent attendance, exemplary citizenship within the school and active participation in the school’s activity program.
"The Missouri Scholars 100 Program is one of the premier academic recognition programs in the country," Clark Mershon, executive director of MoASSP, said in a release. "lt is truly a celebration of learning. Students selected for this program have taken a rigorous course of study and maintained the highest academic standards. The Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals wants to celebrate the achievement and success of these students and their schools."
Missouri Scholars 100 students will be recognized at a luncheon on Sunday, April 21, in Columbia.

Phones are ringing across the Rockwood School District as a brief survey has begun to solicit patron feedback. School district officials say the survey of district households will provide insight into what residents think about the district and potential financing for staff salaries and benefits as well as additional safety personnel.

Earlier this spring, the Rockwood Board of Education unanimously approved extending Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain's contract through the 2027-2028 school year.

The Rockwood School District Board of Education held its reorganization meeting Thursday, April 10. New Director Sarah Boyer and returning member Dr. Mara Vorachek-Warren were sworn in for three-year terms that will end in the spring of 2028.

The Rockwood School District Strategic Plan Steering Committee held its sixth meeting at the Administrative Annex on April 8, as part of the yearlong process to help prepare for a new district strategic plan for 2025-2030.
