Rockwood Students Earn State Awards, Qualify for HOSA International Leadership Conference
More than 70 Rockwood School District students qualified for the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference (ILC) at the Missouri HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Rolla on March 24-25.
Students from Eureka, Lafayette and Marquette high schools were among the 1,202 participants from 93 chapters competing at the SLC, in both individual and team events. A total of 29 Rockwood students finished first in their individual or team event and 20 each finished second and third.
SLC qualifiers are eligible to participate at the ILC from June 18-21 in Nashville, Tennessee.
In addition, nine Lafayette students advanced to compete at the ILC by finishing in the top 25 percent in the state in the Healthcare Issues Exam, 19 Rockwood students earned top-10 finishes in exams at the Academic Testing Center, and seven Rockwood students were honored for their volunteerism with the Barbara James Service Award.

Phones are ringing across the Rockwood School District as a brief survey has begun to solicit patron feedback. School district officials say the survey of district households will provide insight into what residents think about the district and potential financing for staff salaries and benefits as well as additional safety personnel.
Earlier this spring, the Rockwood Board of Education unanimously approved extending Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain's contract through the 2027-2028 school year.
The Rockwood School District Board of Education held its reorganization meeting Thursday, April 10. New Director Sarah Boyer and returning member Dr. Mara Vorachek-Warren were sworn in for three-year terms that will end in the spring of 2028.
The Rockwood School District Strategic Plan Steering Committee held its sixth meeting at the Administrative Annex on April 8, as part of the yearlong process to help prepare for a new district strategic plan for 2025-2030.
