Rockwood Students Qualify for Next Level, Earn Awards at HOSA State Leadership Conference

Nearly 70 Rockwood School District students qualified for the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference (ILC) at the Missouri HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Rolla on March 23-24.

Students from Eureka, Lafayette and Marquette high schools were among the 1,385 participants from 97 chapters competing at the SLC, in both individual and team events. A total of 32 Rockwood students finished first in their individual or team event, 21 finished second, and 14 finished third.

SLC qualifiers are eligible to participate at the ILC from June 17-20 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In addition, 29 Rockwood students earned top-10 finishes in exams at the Academic Testing Center, and eight Rockwood students were honored for their volunteerism with the Barbara James Service Award. The Lafayette chapter also earned the Certificate of Merit in the HOSA Service Project Chapter Award, honoring more than $375 raised and many hours volunteered toward its service project, the National Marrow Donor Program.

Representatives from more than 90 institutions of higher learning, military/ROTC branches and trade schools will be in attendance at this year’s Rockwood/Parkway Regional College Fair, which takes place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at the Greensfelder Rec Complex at Queeny Park.
