Rockwood Theater Ensembles Nominated for St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards
Marquette High is nominated for 10 awards and Eureka High and Rockwood Summit High also received special recognitions in this year's St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards (SLHSMTA).
Marquette's production of "The Drowsy Chaperone" is nominated for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Ensemble and Outstanding Orchestra. In addition, students Stephan Bosnjak and Allie Lappin are nominated for Best Lead Actor and Actress, Drew Mathers and Brooke Scheidler are nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, and Angel DiSalvo received recognition as an Outstanding Student Reporter. Drama/speech teacher Rebecca Young is nominated for Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Faculty Scenic Design & Execution, and Bryce Miller is nominated for Outstanding Faculty Technical Execution.
Eureka and Rockwood Summit are also receiving special recognition at the award ceremony, and Rockwood Summit's Mary Corkery is being recognized as an Outstanding Student Reporter.
A representative from the SLHSMTA visited Marquette on May 5 to present the nominees with medals and certificates of recognition.
The ceremony will be held 7 p.m. on May 15 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.
Eureka's props team earned a WOW Award for its work. Props manager Liliana Balanay accepted the award at the ceremony, on behalf of a team that also included Julia Gregory, Shailey Ponder, Madison Stebor, Evie Hayes and faculty technical director Becca Dillon.
Rockwood Summit's fly operators also earned a WOW Award for their work in supporting aerial stunts in the school's spring production of "The Little Mermaid."

May 23 marked the last day of the 2024-2025 school year in the Rockwood School District. All around the district, students and staff members ended another great school year with hugs, high-fives, waves and well-wishes.
