Strategic Plan Steering Committee Holds 5th Meeting

The Rockwood School District Strategic Plan Steering Committee held its fifth meeting at the Administrative Annex on Feb. 25, as part of the yearlong process to help prepare for a new district strategic plan for 2025-2030.

Over the course of the 2024-2025 school year, Rockwood is bringing together members of our community to help set the future direction of our schools. The district's five-year strategic plan represents our commitment to every child, every family and every employee of Rockwood. Along the way, we will ask questions, listen, evaluate and take an even closer look at what we can do better. We will address our state’s mandate for a comprehensive school improvement plan and take it a step further as we develop a visionary roadmap that will include the aspirations, goals and priorities shared by our community.

The Strategic Plan Steering Committee includes students, staff, parents and community members who represent all grade levels and all four quadrants of the district.

In addition to the committee's work, Rockwood community members have had opportunities to contribute their voices to the process of creating the strategic plan. Community engagement meetings centered on each of the four broad categories the strategic plan will address were open to all members of our community. The first community engagement meeting was held Oct. 8 at Rockwood Summit High and focused on Nurturing Learning. The second was held Nov. 12 at Eureka High and focused on Fiscal Responsibility. The third was held Jan. 14 at Lafayette High and focused on Highly Qualified Staff. The final one was held Feb. 11 at Marquette High and focused on Safe and Caring Schools.

Community members are also welcome to share their thoughts with the steering committee through this ThoughtExchange link

At this point in the strategic planning process:

  • Feedback collected since last May and evaluated along the way by the steering committee will be synthesized into actionable items and strategies within four goal areas: Nurturing Learning, Fiscal Responsibility, Highly Qualified Staff and Safe and Caring Schools.
  • A draft plan will be developed and shared with Rockwood patrons for feedback.
  • The steering committee will revisit the plan based upon that feedback.
  • The plan will be presented to the Board of Education for approval.
