Grading and Feedback
Standard grading and feedback processes will remain in place with no changes. Teachers will provide timely feedback to students, as noted in
Rockwood Policy/Regulation 6450.
The Rockwood School District will follow the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education attendance reporting requirements. Students who choose the online learning option will be required to attend class and meet attendance requirements.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires attendance reporting for both our school district's at-school program and the at-home program.
In-Person Learning at School
How is attendance recorded for students who selected in-person learning at school?
Students are marked present for being physically at school during the day and under the guidance and direction of teachers in the teaching process. Students are marked absent if they are out of the building during an attendance day.
If a student receiving in-person education is quarantined per the District or official medical orders, are they counted absent?
If a student remains engaged in the instructional courses during their quarantine period according to the District's district learning plan, he or she will be counted as present.
It is important to note the quarantine order must be per local county orders, after evaluation by a healthcare provider or at the direction of the school nurse.
If a student who selected in-person learning is out of the building, will they be counted absent?
Yes, as our usual practice, if a student is physically absent from school for illness, travel or other situations, this will be recorded as an absence per DESE.
Virtual Learning at Home
How is attendance recorded for students who selected the virtual at-home program?
Student attendance is based on course completion.
