    Welcome Back 2019-2020

    Greetings SMS Community!

Hard to believe but the school year is fast approaching and will be here before you know it.  Our student orientation is planned for Thursday, August 1st.  6th Grade families are welcome to join us from 9am-11am.  All grades are scheduled to join us from Noon until 3pm.  We will also have our Open House on Tuesday, August 6th from 5-7pm.  The first day of school will be Monday, August 12th.  We begin the school day at 7:37am with our first period beginning at 7:47am.  Students may begin to arrive at school no earlier than 7am.  Doors to the building remain locked until this time.

When students arrive at school on the first day, each grade level is assigned an area prior to the first bell.  6th grade students will come to the cafeteria.  7th and 8th grade students will meet in the gym prior to the first bell.  Breakfast is served beginning at 7:10am.

Students may use their personal devices prior to start of the school day.  Once the first bell rings, students need to place their devices in their lockers for the remainder of the school day.  Cellphones and personal devices should not be carried by students during the school day.  The temptation to have our devices with us at all times is real.  At Selvidge, we work to provide our students with minimal distractions so that we may be able to focus on our school work and socializing face-to-face with our peers.  Please review this policy with your child prior to the start of school.

Should you have any questions leading up to or throughout the school year, please call 636-891-6100.

Thanks and enjoy the remainder of the summer!

    Mike
