High School Equivalency/GED

We offer a variety of free adult education services for individuals 17 and older. Classes are individualized. Students work at their own pace on the skills they need.
In classes you will:
- Improve basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Develop Workforce skills
- Prepare for the Missouri High School Equivalency Tests (HSE/GED)
- Prepare for Postsecondary Education
- Prepare for the WorkKeys and Job Placement tests
By attending classes you can:
- Invest in your future
- Improve your skills
- Earn your HS diploma/credential
- Qualify for a better job
- Prepare for college or a technical school
Summer Class Schedule - Registration closed: See fall schedule below
Summer classes begin July 10th and continue through August 17th. All students (including former students) must test prior to beginning summer classes. Testing will be in June at the Community Learning Center and will take two days to complete. Once our office receives your application, a staff member will contact you regarding signing up for testing.
Students may sign up online or by calling the AEL office. Call or text 314-415-4940 for more information. Registration for summer will close on Thursday, June 21st.

Fall classes begin Monday, September 18th, and new students are added to class every month. Most classes are in-person, but there are limited virtual classes for higher level students. Students must be tested prior to beginning class. Once our office receives your application, a staff member will contact you regarding signing up for testing. The accelerated HiSET prep class is designed to offer assistance to individuals with strong reading skills who are motivated to take the HiSET exam. The accelerated program allows for flexible instructional periods that allow students to earn a high school equivalency in a short amount of time. The classes prepare students to pass the HiSET exam with individualized instruction and the opportunity to take official practice tests. In order to enroll in the Accelerated HiSET Prep Class students need a qualifying score on a reading test.
