Rockwood Elementary, Middle Schoolers Have Fun, Break Records at District Track and Field Meets

Students from Rockwood’s 19 elementary and six middle schools engaged in six days of friendly competition at the Rockwood School District elementary and middle school track and field meets.
The middle school meet was split up by grade – sixth, seventh and eighth – and held May 16-18 at Crestview Middle. The elementary school meet was split up by school size – small, medium and large – and held May 23-25 at Lafayette High.
Rockwood’s physical education teachers prepared their teams, ran both meets and did an amazing job!
The middle school track event was Rockwood’s first since the spring of 2019 and included the triple jump, long jump, shot put, 1600 meters, 800, 100, 200, 400, 4x800-meter relay, 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400.
The Rockwood Valley Middle sixth-grade girls 4x100 team of Ava, Violet, Cecily and Eloise set a new district record with a time of 56.8 seconds, and LaSalle Springs Middle eighth-grader Collin tied the district’s grade-level record in the 100-meter dash (11.78 seconds).
In the elementary school meet, fourth- and fifth-graders competed in long jump, triple jump, 1600 meters, 800, 400, 200, 100 and the 4x50- and 4x100-meter relays.
Ellisville Elementary fifth-grader Kellen set a new district record for his grade level in the triple jump (32’ 7 ¾”), and Chesterfield Elementary fourth-grader Nasir tied the district grade-level record in the 200 meters with a time of 29.8 seconds.
