Board of Education Approves Hire of Dr. Andrea Darmon as Pond Elementary Principal
March 17, 2023
The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Dr. Andrea Darmon as the new principal at Pond Elementary, beginning July 1. She replaces Dr. Carlos Diaz-Granados, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Darmon is currently serving as the assistant principal at Pond, a position she has held for the past five years. Prior to that, she taught third and fourth grade at Bowles Elementary for 16 years. She also has experience as a principal and assistant principal for Summer Academy. Darmon was Teacher of the Year at Bowles in 2007 and co-chaired the district’s Rapid Response Team responsible for creating the plan to safely return to in-person learning during the pandemic.
Darmon earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a Master of Arts in Education and a Master of Arts in School Administration from Lindenwood University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Maryville University.
“I am extremely honored to be named the next principal of Pond Elementary,” said Darmon. “I look forward to a continued partnership with staff, parents and our community to help each child achieve their very best. Together, we will carry on the incredible legacy of success established at Pond.”
Darmon lives with her husband and two sons in Wildwood.
