Woerther Weekly Newsletter

Good afternoon Woerther families,

I hope that you are looking forward to the long weekend and that you have plans to rest, relax, and enjoy family and friends!

There will be no school on Monday in honor of Memorial Day. Thank you to all of the members of the Woerther Community who are members of the armed services. We appreciate your service to our country and the sacrifices these families make.

Congratulations to all of our Woerther Track Team members! They did a great job of competing, challenging themselves, and representing Woerther!

The last day of school is Thursday, June 2. We will begin dismissal at 12:50 pm. Students will only need to bring a sack lunch if you are not planning on eating the lunch from the cafeteria. Students will not need their back packs or any supplies for the last day. Please make arrangements to pick up your student(s) no later than 1:05 pm. We have a staffing meeting and activities directly after dismissal.

We are planning the Woerther Family Picnic on June 1 as an end of the year celebration. This event is for students and staff only. I apologize for any confusion about families attending the celebration with their student(s). Students should plan to bring a water bottle and a towel for the day. You may also want to apply sunscreen and bug spray prior to coming to school. Students will also be participating in a few water activities, so please make sure they are wearing clothes that can get wet. Please no swim trunks or bathing suits.  Students will not have time in the day to change. If you are providing your child with lunch that day, please send it in a disposable sack with items that can be thrown away.

Please see note from Nurse Diana:

The end of the school year is rapidly approaching.  In keeping with the Rockwood School District Medication Policy, no medication may be sent home with a student.  You will need to make arrangements for an adult to pick up any remaining medication.  This may be you, a relative, friend or neighbor.  The medications may not be sent by mail. We have a stock of epi pens and inhalers that we could use if you pick your medication up before the last day. Medication that is not picked up by the end of the last school day will be disposed of, according to DEA regulations.

LAST CALL to claim your LOST and FOUND items.

There are quite a lot of items left in our lost and found.  Please have your child check to see if they left an item behind.  All items left will be donated this summer.

We are looking to start a robotics team in the fall. Please complete this form if your student(s) would be interested in being a part of this team. There may be an application process and a fee of up to $100 to be a part of this team. Please complete the form below if your student would be interested in being a part of this team.

A little note from the PTO presidents:

We would like to thank the Woerther community and staff for their support and help this year. We could not have done it without you! We are very proud of being able to purchase the sunshades for two outdoor spaces - kindergarten playground and outdoor classroom. The PTO's work is rarely finished but our time is; Julia and I will be moving on to different capacities in the PTO next year but are confident that the PTO is in wonderful hands with our new president, Annie Price. Thank you, Annie, for stepping up to lead the next two years!

Have a wonderful summer!

- Tracy and Julia
