Board of Education Approves Hire of Dr. Brent Pearson as Selvidge Middle Assistant Principal
March 17, 2023
The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Dr. Brent Pearson as a new assistant principal at Selvidge Middle, beginning July 1. He replaces Dr. Matthew Borzillo, who was hired last month as an assistant principal at Lafayette High, also beginning July 1.
Pearson currently teaches journalism and is the student council advisor at Eureka High, where he has worked since 2017. Prior to that, he was a reporter for five years for KOMU-TV, an NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. Pearson is a member of the Journalism Education Association and earned both an Emmy Award and the Edward R. Murrow Award for his work as a journalist. He is a 2021 ROSE Award recipient and served last year as a Summer Academy assistant principal. Pearson has completed the Rockwood Ignite program for aspiring administrators, worked as advisor of the Catpound Student Section and coached boys and girls soccer. In his free time, he volunteers photographing sporting events and refereeing for Special Olympics.
Pearson earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University and his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Maryville University.
“I am honored and humbled to join the Selvidge Middle School team as an assistant principal," said Pearson. "I am excited for the opportunity to work with the awesome students and teachers in the Selvidge school community.”
Pearson resides in Webster Groves.
