Rockwood School Board Approves Revised Calendar for 2023-2024 School Year, New Calendar for 2024-2025
At its Jan. 19 meeting, the Rockwood Board of Education approved a revised calendar for the 2023-2024 school year as well as a new calendar for the 2024-2025 school year.
For the 2023-2024 school year, the first day of school is still scheduled for Monday, Aug. 21, and spring break is still scheduled to run March 18-22. The last day of school for students, however, has changed to Friday, May 24, a week earlier than the previously approved 2023-2024 calendar. The Calendar Committee sought ways to revise the 2023-2024 calendar after receiving community feedback reflecting a desire for the school year to end before Memorial Day.
The professional development schedule has also changed to include two full-day professional development days during the school year for staff members and two during the summer, as opposed to four during the school year.
The date for teachers to return to their classrooms – Tuesday, Aug. 15 – has also been moved a day earlier than the originally approved 2023-2024 calendar.
For the 2024-2025 school year, the first day of school is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 19, and spring break is scheduled for March 17-21. The last day of school for students is Friday, May 23. Similar to the 2023-2024 school year, the professional development schedule includes two-full day professional development days during the school year for staff members and two during the summer.
