Board of Education Approves Hire of Dr. Tracey Waeckerle as Marquette High Principal

Dr. Tracey Waeckerle, Principal at Marquette HighThe Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Dr. Tracey Waeckerle as the new principal at Marquette High, beginning July 1. She replaces Dr. Stephen Hankins, who was hired last month as the new assistant superintendent of student services, also beginning July 1.

Waeckerle has worked at Marquette since 2008. She is currently the associate principal, a position she has held since 2019. Prior to that, she was the assistant principal for two years, and she taught social studies for nine years. Waeckerle has served in leadership roles on a number of school and district committees, including the district’s Behavior Response Committee, and she created the Character Education Leadership Team that was instrumental in the process to become a State School of Character.

Waeckerle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Truman State University, master’s degrees in both teaching and school administration from Lindenwood University and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Maryville University. 

"I am truly honored to have been selected as the next building principal of Marquette High School,” said Waeckerle. “I look forward to continuing to serve our amazing school community in this new leadership role and working with our students, staff and families to ensure that our Marquette Mustangs are successful."

Waeckerle lives with her husband, Bill, and two children in Wildwood.
