Board of Education Approves Hire of Cathy Shoup as Marquette High Activities Director
The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Cathy Shoup as the new activities director at Marquette High, beginning July 1, 2022. She replaces Shane Matzen, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Currently, Shoup is the activities director at Willard High near Springfield, a position she has held since 2017. She has also served as activities director at Rolla High, assistant activities director at Buffalo High and also served as a teacher and basketball, cross country, track and field and golf coach at Buffalo. At Willard, she was the recipient of the 2021 Missouri Association of Rural Education Outstanding Administrator of the Year award.
Shoup earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Culver-Stockton College, a Master of Science in Physical Education from Pittsburg State University, and Master of Education in Athletic Administration and Specialist of Education in Administration from William Woods University.
“I'm excited and looking forward to becoming part of a district such as Rockwood – and specifically Marquette High School – that focuses on student growth and success,” said Shoup. “Marquette has a long tradition of excellence in academics and activities, and I'm looking forward to becoming part of the Mustang community.”
