The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Rhonda Kloeppel as a new assistant principal at LaSalle Springs Middle, beginning July 1. She replaces Dr. Christopher Colgren, who was hired last month as the new principal at LaSalle Springs, also beginning July 1.
Kloeppel has taught eighth-grade American History at LaSalle Springs since 2008. Prior to that, she was a third-grade teacher at Pond Elementary for five years, taught middle school history and language arts in Jefferson City for three years and spent her first three years teaching middle school math in Vienna, Missouri. She worked with the Rockwood Drug-Free Coalition for seven years, served as a department chair at LaSalle Springs for the past seven years and has served on multiple building and district committees. Kloeppel has coordinated the student council as well as the school’s Veterans Day assembly since 2010 and was named Teacher of the Year at LaSalle Springs in 2013.
Kloeppel earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Science in Educational Administration and a Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction from Southwest Baptist University.
"Working in education has always been my passion,” said Kloeppel. “I am so excited to be the new assistant principal at LaSalle Springs. This is my home, and this community is my family. I am honored to continue the great work that we do at LaSalle."
Kloeppel lives with her husband, Brad, in Eureka, and they have two grown children who are both Rockwood graduates.
