April is Route 66 Month in the City of Wildwood
March 28, 2023
The city of Wildwood is holding a monthlong celebration of Route 66 in April, and Rockwood School District students on the Student Route 66 Taskforce have played a large part in planning the festivities!
The celebration features two main events: a scavenger hunt and an outdoor movie.
Route 66 Scavenger Hunt: The Route 66 Scavenger Hunt will take place the entire month of April. Participants of all ages will be challenged to solve 30 clues for various Route 66 landmarks along Wildwood's length of the corridor and will receive raffle tickets for exciting prizes based on how many clues are successfully solved!
The Official Guide will be available at City Hall starting April 1, and an online version will be posted on the event webpage.
Route 66 Outdoor Movie: Come watch the movie Cars in your cars! Or bring chairs and blankets, if that is your pleasure. Pre-show events will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14. The movie will be shown as soon as it gets dark.
Sound will be available outside or via your car radio using FM transmitters. Concessions will begin at 6 p.m. and are provided by Miss Becky’s Salsa Shack and B&B Theatres.
The eight Rockwood students on the Student Route 66 Taskforce have played a key role in planning and promoting events surrounding the upcoming construction of the proposed Route 66 Roadside Park in Wildwood, including the Student Design Competition won by a class at LaSalle Springs Middle.
