Board Seeks Community Input in the Search for a New Rockwood Superintendent

 The Rockwood Board of Education is composed of seven citizens of the Rockwood School District.The Board of Education is working with School Exec Connect, an educational search firm, to hire a new superintendent for the Rockwood School District. In an effort to understand what qualities stakeholders feel the Board should be looking for and what priorities the new superintendent should focus on, all stakeholders - students, staff, parents and community members - are encouraged to weigh in. Opportunities to participate include:

  • Online Survey, available Oct. 11-29
  • Staff Public Forums
    • Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m. at Rockwood Summit High in the Commons
    • Thursday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m. at Marquette High in the Library
  • Community Public Forums
    • Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. at Rockwood Summit High in the Commons
    • Thursday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at Marquette High in the Library

Findings from the survey, the open forums and several focus group conversations will be used to develop a New Superintendent Profile that will be reported to the Board on Nov. 18, 2021.  

“As we move forward, our most important consideration is securing the strongest candidate pool and ultimately the best person to lead our district,” said Board President Jaime Bayes. “The Board of Education looks forward to the support and assistance of our community with this very important undertaking.”

Dr. Tim Ricker was hired as interim superintendent for the 2021-2022 school year following the retirement of Dr. Mark Miles in April of this year. Dr. Ricker has shared publicly that he is here to serve during the transition and will not be an applicant for the next superintendent position.
