Class of 2024 Students and Families:

Thank you to all who voted in our Junior class elections. As we begin week 3 of our 2022 - 23 school year it is likely that our students will experience multiple assessments in a day. Please organize yourself and create a schedule that includes academic and athletic time but also some time to relax and have fun. If you need help with getting organized reach out to your counselor or come by our office I am happy to help. 

  • Schedule for Week of September 12 - 16: The schedule will be B, C, B, C,A. Sign up for AcLab the day before every ‘B-day. Sign up with teachers to review, get help, and do missing work.

  • National Honor Society News: Invitations to apply for the National Honor Society will be sent to the Rockwood Gmail account of all juniors and seniors with a 3.5GPA or above by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7th.   The primary parental contact will be sent an email with all the application materials as well.   Detailed instructions will be included including deadlines for each section.   All application materials will be submitted digitally.   If you have any questions about the application process, please email the adviser for the chapter, Mr. Brian Fish at fishbrian@rsdmo.org.  

  • Homecoming Parade Information:  The Lafayette High School Homecoming Parade will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022.  If your athletic team, club, or community organization would like to participate or volunteer,  please submit this Homecoming Float Participation Form by 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022. 

  • Homecoming Week - September 25 - October 1, 2022:  Details coming soon! Please donate candy for the parade. Drop it off at the welcome center with it labeled as room 261 junior class homecoming candy.

  •  Class Officer Elections:  Congratulations to the Class Officer for the Junior Class The winners are: 

    • President: BLAKE KLOSTERMANN

    • Communication Directors:  CLAYTON OHLMS

    • Our first advisory meeting will be on Wednesday, September 14. 2022 at 8:00 a.m. in room 90 with Sponsor Mrs. Lee and our class officers leading the meeting. All are welcome. Please join us to make it a fun year for our class.

World Suicide Prevention Day - Wear Yellow 9/12 (Monday): Show your support by wearing yellow on Monday, September 12, for World Suicide Prevention Day. “Creating hope through action” is the triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day from 2021 - 2023. This theme is a reminder that there is an alternative to suicide and aims to inspire confidence and light in all of us. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available.   • LHS PSAT - October 12: The PSAT will be offered as an optional assessment for junior students on Wednesday, October 12th at LHS. The PSAT is for entrance to the National Merit Scholarship Program, it is not a college admittance exam.  Registration opens on September 1st.  Registration and payment information can be found on the LHS PSAT webpage. Registration is available online from September 1-15, 2022.  PSAT Information and Registration National Merit Scholarship Program. 

 

  • A+ Program: The A+ Scholarship Program is run by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development and provides scholarship funds to eligible graduates of A+ designated high schools who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools. To apply for the LHS A+ program please complete the online application. To learn more about the A+ program students can visit Ms. Brawner in the counseling office or check out the LHS A+ website.  

 

  • LHS Guidance & Counseling Office

The LHS Guidance & Counseling Office link will provide you with the names and contact information of our guidance department staff. 

  • Lancer Parent Organization: On August 31, 2022, there was a parent meeting at 5:30 p.m. before Open House. Here is the link to the presentation in case you missed the meeting.  August 31, 2022, Junior Class Parent Meeting. Thank you to all who attended. Our parent organization is strong and they need volunteers for various events. Please volunteer and contact Beth Nelson at bnelso2@gmail.com or Tracy Montgomery at tracvymontgomery@charter.net    for questions.

  • Lunch and Outside Food Delivery

Lafayette does NOT allow food delivery by outside vendors (ex.:  Uber Eats, Door Dash, restaurants, etc.).  If a student has forgotten lunch, the student should see the grade-level administrator.

  • News from the LHS Library

Welcome to another great year in the Lafayette Library! The Lafayette Library has been a very busy place this first week of school.  It is great to have so many students visiting with classes or on their own time.  For more information about the LHS Library, check out 3 Things You Should Know for this month's highlights.  Please see this infographic for an overview of the resources available to our students in the library. Parents have the ability to receive daily email notifications regarding the materials their child has checked out of the school library.  Parents wishing to receive these daily emails should contact the Lafayette librarians to activate this feature.

  • News from the Yearbook Staff: If you wish to order a Yearbook please click on the link provided for more information Yearbook Order Form. If you would like to subscribe to all the Lafayette student publications please click on the following link Subscription. 2022 Yearbook Distribution - If you ordered a 2022 Legend yearbook. Please email thelancerfeed@gmail.com to make arrangements to pick up your yearbook in the Welcome Center.

  • Opportunities for Juniors and Seniors: In this section, I will share information with you about any opportunities that come my way (academic, athletic, etc.) for juniors and when you are seniors.   • Student Employment Opportunities:  Are you looking for a job?  The Lafayette Business Department has created a list of job openings in the area.  Please access the QR CODE to see the most updated list.

  • Build My Future Event For Rockwood Students: The event for Rockwood students will be on October 12th from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at STLCC-Florissant Valley. Interested students must sign up to participate by September 14th. Please use the link to register.

  • September LPO Newsletter: Lancer Parent Organization sends out a newsletter each month. I have provided you with the link to the newsletter so that all the information you need is in one place.

  • District News: There are a number of items that are new or changing across the district that we would like you to be aware of, including a new communication system, a new visitor management system, school meal changes, the expansion of Hazel Health services as well as an update to Rockwood’s Safe Together plan. For all the details on what’s new in Rockwood this year, please visit the district website.

 

  • A “Sweet” Hello Candy Donation Request: We are out of Candy. Our students are back in the halls and our office seems to be the place for candy. Thank you to all the families who donated candy for our students last year.If you would like to use this link for Amazon, the candy will be sent directly to our office. Please feel free to continue to donate so our juniors have a place to stop by and pick up a piece of candy they enjoy. We appreciate all of you. 

  • Lafayette High School Season Passes: Rockwood School District wants all families and fans to attend and enjoy games across the school district. Whether you purchase the All Rockwood Event Pass or the Lafayette Specific Pass, your purchase directly benefits Lafayette High School. Please consider this option as it directly benefits our students and our school. Attendance at 4 regular season events this school year is the equivalent of the cost of the pass.   • Visiting Lafayette and Other Rockwood Schools:  Rockwood has moved to a new visitor sign-in/sign-out system called School Pass.  While additional information will come out soon, we wanted you to be aware, but I wanted you to be aware of the new process that is in place for when you visit Lafayette.  To help with the process, please make sure you bring your driver's license the first time you visit Lafayette. Once you establish your PIN, you will not need your driver's license. 

 

Rockwood uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using the email address and phone number listed in Infinite Campus. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.  Use this link for sign-up information.

  • Parking: Parking Application Information If you need to pick up a pass after you complete the online application feel free to stop by the junior office in room 261 after the end of the school day from 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
