Class of 2024 Students and Families:

We are looking forward to seeing many of you this evening at the parade (5:30 p.m.) and the football game (7:15 p.m.). It has been a fun week with all the dress-up days and games during lunch. Students and staff participated and had fun. Tomorrow is our homecoming dance from 7:30 - 10 p.m. If you are picking up your student please do so at the latest by 10:00 p.m.

  • Rockwood College Fair:  The Rockwood School District is hosting their annual college fair on Sunday, October 2 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Marquette High School. There will be over 110 participating colleges, giving students an amazing opportunity to start their college search or ask all their questions about this application season.  Please sign up for the fair here.

  • Homecoming Dance Tickets: Tickets will be sold using Hometown Ticketing. Students scan the QR code on the flyer Homecoming Flyer 2022 and purchase tickets.  Attached is a step by step guide as to how to purchase.   •  AP Exam Registration:  AP exam registration opens on Tuesday, October 4.  Please visit the LHS AP website for more information.  

        

  • Advisory Meeting:  Please plan on attending the advisory meetings to give your input. Once we schedule it I will send an email through Parent Square. 

  • Schedule for Week of October 3- 7: The schedule will be No school Monday (PD day for staff) B, C, B, C. Sign up for AcLab the day before every B-day. Sign up with teachers to review, get help, and do missing work.

  • Make-up Pictures: Inter-State Studios will be at LHS in Room 180 on Oct. 6 during AcLab to take Make-Up Photos for all students who have missed getting pictures taken. This will be the FINAL CHANCE to get a photo taken for your ID/Yearbook photo. You will receive a pass from your class office the week of the photo. Please dress appropriately for your picture. No hats. No T-shirts with writing. Undergrad Photo Retake Signup

  • South Tech Open House is coming up. I encourage any interested students to attend an Open House and see the school for themselves. It's pretty impressive!

  • LHS PSAT - October 12: The PSAT will be offered as an optional assessment for junior students on Wednesday, October 12th at LHS. The PSAT is for entrance to the National Merit Scholarship Program, it is not a college admittance exam.  Registration opens on September 1st.  Registration and payment information can be found on the LHS PSAT webpage.   • A+ Program: The A+ Scholarship Program is run by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development and provides scholarship funds to eligible graduates of A+ designated high schools who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools. To apply for the LHS A+ program please complete the online application. To learn more about the A+ program students can visit Ms. Brawner in the counseling office or check out the LHS A+ website.  

 

  • LHS Guidance & Counseling Office

The LHS Guidance & Counseling Office link will provide you with the names and contact information of our guidance department staff. 

  • Lancer Parent Organization: Our parent organization is strong and they need volunteers for various events. Please volunteer and contact Beth Nelson at mailto:bnelso2@gmail.com or Tracy Montgomery at tracvymontgomery@charter.net for questions.

  • Lunch and Outside Food Delivery

Lafayette does NOT allow food delivery by outside vendors (ex.:  Uber Eats, Door Dash, restaurants, etc.).  If a student has forgotten lunch, the student should see the grade-level administrator.

  • News from the LHS Library

For information about the LHS Library, check out  3 Things You Should Know for this month’s highlights. Please see this infographic for an overview of the resources available to our students in the library. Parents have the ability to receive daily email notifications regarding the materials their child has checked out of the school library.  Parents wishing to receive these daily emails should contact the Lafayette librarians to activate this feature.

  • News from the Yearbook Staff: If you wish to order a Yearbook please click on the link provided for more information Yearbook Order Form. If you would like to subscribe to all the Lafayette student publications please click on the following link Subscription. 2022 Yearbook Distribution - If you ordered a 2022 Legend yearbook. Please email thelancerfeed@gmail.com to make arrangements to pick up your yearbook at the Welcome Center.

  • College and Career information: Please click on the link for this section. Each week this link will remain the same but the information it contains will continue to change. As our college and career counselor has new information she will add it to the link. This will include deadlines, college representative visits, and other college information. 

  • Opportunities for Juniors and Seniors: In this section, I will share information with you about any opportunities that come my way about (academic, athletic, etc.) for juniors and when you are seniors. This will help you plan for the next two years. Regeneron Science Talent Search the Last date for application is November 9, 2022

  • Student Employment Opportunities:  Are you looking for a job?  The Lafayette Business Department has created a list of job openings in the area.  Please access the QR CODE to see the most updated list.

  • Build My Future Event For Rockwood Students: The event for Rockwood students will be on October 12th from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at STLCC-Florissant Valley. Interested students must sign up to participate by September 14th. Please use the link to register.

  • LPO Newsletter: Lancer Parent Organization sends out a newsletter each month. I have provided you with the link to the newsletter so that all the information you need is in one place.

  • District News: There are a number of items that are new or changing across the district that we would like you to be aware of, including a new communication system, a new visitor management system, school meal changes, the expansion of Hazel Health services as well as an update to Rockwood’s Safe Together plan. For all the details on what’s new in Rockwood this year, please visit the district website.

 

  • A “Sweet” Hello Candy Donation Request: Our students are back in the halls and our office seems to be the place for candy. Thank you to all the families who have donated candy this year. If you would like to use this link for Amazon, the candy will be sent directly to our office. Please feel free to continue to donate so our juniors have a place to stop by and pick up a piece of candy they enjoy. We appreciate all of you. 

  • Lafayette High School Season Passes: Rockwood School District wants all families and fans to attend and enjoy games across the school district. Whether you purchase the All Rockwood Event Pass or the Lafayette Specific Pass, your purchase directly benefits Lafayette High School. Please consider this option as it directly benefits our students and our school. Attendance at 4 regular season events this school year is the equivalent of the cost of the pass.   • Visiting Lafayette and Other Rockwood Schools:  Rockwood has moved to a new visitor sign-in/sign-out system called School Pass.  While additional information will come out soon, we wanted you to be aware , but I wanted you to be aware of the new process that is in place for when you visit Lafayette.  To help with the process, please make sure you bring your driver's license the first time you visit Lafayette. Once you establish your PIN, you will not need ​your driver's license. 

 

Rockwood uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using the email address and phone number listed in Infinite Campus. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.  Use this link for sign-up information.

The link to student resources includes information about mental health, suicide, eating disorders, and more.

  • Parking: Parking Application Information If you need to pick up a pass after you complete the online application feel free to stop by the junior office in room 261 after the end of the school day from 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Rockwood Equity Parent Advisory Council (REPAC):  All interested parents are welcome to complete this form in an effort to have at least one parent representative from each school on the REPAC committee.REPAC Monthly News Letter

I will be at the west side doors every morning to greet all those who come through that door. Junior class Lancers if you need to speak to me before the school day starts you will find me at this location.
