Welcome to the Wildwood Middle School Activities Program.  We are happy to offer an activities program that encourages you to explore new areas of interest, to develop some new skills, and, in some instances, to improve physical fitness.  It is our hope to provide all of them in an environment which allows students to learn, to socialize, and have fun!

It is important for you to know that you don't have to be "good" in an activity to sign up or participate.  On the contrary, the program offers the opportunity to explore new areas of interest, as well as those you already enjoy.  The benefits for you in such a program – increased confidence, improved social skills, improved ability to work as part of a team and enhanced physical fitness and coordination – are well documented, both now and for your future.

The activities fall into five main areas:  academic support, clubs, competitions, lifetime leisure activities, and sports.  Our goal is for all students to participate in some activity during the course of the school year.

 General Information

Wildwood activities are open to all students who attend Wildwood Middle School.  A few activities may be restricted to certain grade levels.

Students will not be allowed to participate in intramural activities on the days they have been assigned to a detention or in-school/out-of-school suspension.

Students participating in activities are expected to be courteous, cooperative, committed, and in control.  This includes following the guidelines established by the sponsor, turning in the necessary permission forms, and displaying appropriate behavior at all times.

Students staying for an after school activity should report directly to the location in which the activity is being held immediately following the 2:39 p.m. dismissal bell. Students are not to go outside the building.  Any student going outside during dismissal will not be allowed to stay for activities and will be required to board the busses to go home.  Any students on campus after 2:45 p.m. without supervision will be sent to the main office and their parents will be contacted to pick them up.  Violations of these procedures may result in detention and/or denial of afterschool privileges.

It is a privilege to participate in activities at Wildwood.  Students who do not follow expectations while participating will be dismissed from the activity and will not be allowed to participate in any other activities until given permission by the administration and sponsor.

Activities are usually held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:40 to 3:35.  Some activities may be held at different times and will be noted in the specific description of that activity.

Most of the activities will be held at Wildwood Middle School.  Some sport activities may culminate with a district level tournament and may be held on another campus.  Students participating in these events will receive the necessary information in advance.

Students who would like to participate in an activity will need to sign up on the chromebook during lunch only if the student is needing to use bus transportation. The activities for each day will be included in morning announcements.  It is possible that additional activities not listed in this handbook may be offered.  You must sign up by 1:00 P.M. on the day of the activity.  If you do not sign up, you cannot stay.

Activities end at 3:35 and student should be picked up at that time. Activity buses are available each day (subject to availability) for both students who reside in the county as well as for students who reside in the city. Activity bus stops will be determined in the summer of each year.

These activities are set up for the students to learn something new.  It is a great way to meet new friends, gain new experiences, and have fun.  School is more fun the more you put into it.   Come join us after school in all our activities!
